OMB Authorization #0648-0227 Exp. 10/31/04
NOAA, the operator of both the GOES geostationary and NOAA polar-orbiting satellites,
maintains a "users list" of all known operators of meteorological satellite
receiving stations throughout the world. During the past four years, a new family of
geostationary satellites has been launched; in May 1998 a new series of polar-orbiting
satellites began with the launch of NOAA-15. In the years ahead the present APT direct
readout system will be replaced and GOES WEFAX will be replaced with LRIT. The
"users list" is one way NOAA has of keeping the user community informed of these
changes.
NOAA also provides limited, up-to-date information about satellite receiving station
location and type of data received to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). This
information does not identify the user, however.
This questionnaire is designed to help NOAA provide the best possible service to you,
assist in keeping satellite users informed of changes with the NOAA operated satellites,
and information for the world community through the WMO.
All respondents are advised that any information you submit will be treated in
accordance with the U.S. Freedom Of Information Act (5 USC 552) and any exemptions to the provisions of that
Act regarding the disclosure of your personal information that would constitute an
unwarranted invasion of your personal privacy.
If you have not completed a similar survey for NOAA within the past 6-12 months, we ask
your cooperation in gathering this information. We are interested in hearing from all
users throughout the world, even if you receive data from non-NOAA meteorological
satellites.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this questionnaire. Please answer all
questions that apply.
- Check one user category which best describes your activity:
If other, please describe in the space below:
- Do you receive meteorological (weather) satellite transmissions?

- What data types do you receive? Check all that apply (from any satellite- NOAA,
METEOR, GOES, GMS, METEOSAT, GOMS, INSAT, etc...)
APT Automatic Picture Transmission (NOAA, METEOR...)
